The kinetocardiogram. II. The normal configuration and amplitude.

The procedure for recording the precordial movements was described in the previous publication.' Records were taken from KV1 through KV5, and KV3R. (KV3R is in the same location as KY3, except for being located on the anterior right side of the chest.) KV1, KV2, etc., are used to denote kinetocardiograms taken from areas similar to conventional electrocardiograph chest leads. Records from KY6 are not included in this analysis; however, they are almost identical in pattern to KV5, but much smaller in amplitude and lacking some detail. Sixty-four male subjects whose ages ranged from 20 to 30 years were studied. A careful history and a general cardiovascular examination was made on each subject. The magnitude of certain movements from each chest position was estimated by comparing the amplitude to that produced by a calibrated sine wave generator (described in more detail in the previous communication).'
